Asphalt tonnage is calculated using area, thickness, and asphalt density. Most hot mix asphalt averages approximately 145 lb per cubic foot.

Coverage changes based on lift thickness. A thicker asphalt section covers less square footage per ton.

• 1 inch ≈ 80 sq ft per ton
• 2 inches ≈ 40 sq ft per ton
• 3 inches ≈ 27 sq ft per ton
• 4 inches ≈ 20 sq ft per ton
